Matte varnished parquet restorer – LIGNOLIFE® OPACO
LIGNOLIFE® OPACO is a carnauba wax-based resin-wax finish specifically developed to restore matte varnished parquet and other matte varnished wood surfaces. It is formulated to restore colour, uniformity and long-lasting protection to worn matte finishes damaged by everyday use. As a result, it renews the existing finish without the need for re-varnishing, provided the original coating is still intact. Thanks to its water-based formulation, it is an odourless, easy-to-apply and self-levelling product. Therefore, it is ideal for restoring the natural appearance of matte varnished parquet and other indoor varnished wood surfaces.
Over time, matte varnished parquet can lose its uniform appearance because of foot traffic, frequent cleaning and everyday wear. Consequently, the finish may look dull, uneven or worn. If the varnish is still present, LIGNOLIFE® OPACO restores the existing finish without altering its original appearance. It provides a natural matte finish while improving resistance to dirt, water, detergents and foot traffic.
When to use
LIGNOLIFE® OPACO is recommended for:
- restoring worn matte varnished parquet that has lost its original appearance;
- renewing indoor matte varnished wood finishes;
- matte varnished parquet floors;
- matte varnished wood wall cladding;
- matte varnished wooden furniture;
- matte varnished interior doors and wooden joinery.
What it does
LIGNOLIFE® OPACO is a specialist finish for restoring matte varnished parquet that:
- restores colour and surface uniformity to worn finishes;
- provides a natural matte finish;
- creates a new protective film over the existing varnish;
- improves resistance to foot traffic, dirt, water and household detergents;
- is self-levelling, producing an even finish without mechanical polishing;
- is easy to maintain with PULIBRILL® and regular applications of BEAUTY FLOOR OPACO.
How it works
LIGNOLIFE® OPACO is based on a water-based emulsion of carnauba wax and resins. It has been specifically formulated to restore matte varnished wood surfaces. When applied to a clean and properly degreased surface, it forms a new protective matte film. This film refreshes the appearance of the existing varnish and increases its resistance to everyday wear.
For best results, apply two thin coats following the instructions for use.

When not to use
LIGNOLIFE® OPACO does not replace re-varnishing where the original coating has been completely worn away. If bare wood is exposed, for example in grey worn areas or where water is absorbed directly into the wood, the varnish must first be restored.
Expert advice
Before applying LIGNOLIFE® OPACO, thoroughly clean the surface with PULIBRILL® and WHITE PAD. This removes dirt, grease and residues that could reduce adhesion of the new protective film.
To keep the restored finish in excellent condition, clean the surface regularly with PULIBRILL® and apply BEAUTY FLOOR OPACO every 6–12 months as part of the maintenance programme.
How to use
LIGNOLIFE® OPACO is a water-based resin-wax finish designed to restore matte varnished parquet and other matte varnished wood surfaces. For a uniform natural matte finish, prepare the surface carefully and apply the product in thin coats.
Surface preparation
Before applying LIGNOLIFE® OPACO, carry out a deep cleaning treatment with PULIBRILL® and WHITE PAD. This removes grease, dirt and residues that could reduce the adhesion of the product.
Application
- Shake the product thoroughly before use.
- Apply 2 coats of LIGNOLIFE® OPACO using a wax applicator pad, a microfibre cloth or a sponge.
- Apply a thin, even coat over the entire surface, avoiding excess product or build-up.
- Apply the second coat as soon as the first one is dry.
- Allow the treatment to dry. Under normal conditions and in a well-ventilated area, the product usually dries within 2–3 hours.
Precautions
- Do not apply the product to surfaces colder than 7 °C (45 °F).
- Avoid application on hot surfaces, such as heated floors in operation or surfaces exposed to direct sunlight.
- Do not apply with a brush or roller.
- For indoor use only.
Coverage
Approximate coverage:
- 1 litre covers 30–40 m² per coat.
Coverage may vary depending on the absorbency and condition of the surface.

Is LIGNOLIFE® OPACO a wax or a varnish?
LIGNOLIFE® OPACO is not a varnish. It is a resin-wax finish that restores and protects the existing varnish. It should be applied when the original protective coating is still intact but has lost its colour, uniformity or natural matte appearance.
Does LIGNOLIFE® OPACO remove scratches from parquet?
LIGNOLIFE® OPACO does not remove deep scratches or replace re-varnishing. However, the protective film it creates can reduce the appearance of light abrasions and fine surface scratches, producing a more uniform finish while protecting the surface against everyday wear.
How often should LIGNOLIFE® OPACO be reapplied?

Can LIGNOLIFE® OPACO be applied to new parquet?
LIGNOLIFE® OPACO has been developed primarily to restore matte varnished parquet and wood surfaces that have lost their original appearance through everyday use. On a new floor in perfect condition, the treatment is generally unnecessary.
Should the parquet be prepared before applying LIGNOLIFE® OPACO?
Yes. Before applying LIGNOLIFE® OPACO, thoroughly clean the surface with PULIBRILL® and a WHITE PAD to remove dirt, residues and contaminants that could affect the adhesion and uniform appearance of the new protective film.
Can I apply LIGNOLIFE® OPACO to heavily worn or greyed parquet?
If the original varnish has completely deteriorated and bare wood is exposed, LIGNOLIFE® OPACO cannot replace re-varnishing. However, if sanding is not planned, it can be used as the final finish in a wood restoration process. In these cases, first remove the greyed wood with SMACCHIO LEGNO, then deep clean the surface with PULIBRILL®, restore the areas where the varnish has been completely lost using OLIO RAVVIVANTE, and finally apply LIGNOLIFE® OPACO.
How should parquet be maintained after applying LIGNOLIFE® OPACO?
To preserve the natural matte appearance and protective finish created by LIGNOLIFE® OPACO, clean the parquet regularly with PULIBRILL® and carry out periodic maintenance using BEAUTY FLOOR OPACO. Avoid highly alkaline cleaners, acidic products and solvents, as they may reduce the durability of the treatment.
