Description
High-Performance Powder Cleaner for Removing Algae, Moss and Lichens from Outdoor Surfaces – ALGANET®
ALGANET® is a high-performance powder cleaner and stain remover specifically developed for the deep cleaning of outdoor stone and masonry surfaces. It is ideal for removing algae from outdoor flooring and restoring the original appearance of surfaces exposed to weathering and biological contamination. This professional solution effectively removes organic growth while preserving the appearance of the treated material.
When to Use It
ALGANET® is recommended for cleaning outdoor floors and wall coverings affected by persistent biological contamination caused by algae, moss, lichens, leaf and flower residues, as well as animal droppings and urine. It is suitable for both deep restorative cleaning and routine maintenance of surfaces exposed to recurring biological growth.
ALGANET® can be used on:
- Porcelain tiles
- Ceramic surfaces
- Terracotta
- Marble
- Natural stone
- Cement-based agglomerates
- Concrete surfaces
- Klinker
- Treated outdoor stone surfaces
- PVC awnings and tarpaulins
- Outdoor plastic materials
What It Does
The product is particularly effective for removing algae from outdoor flooring, eliminating moss and lichens while improving the appearance of surfaces without causing damage. Its action is more effective and longer-lasting than sodium hypochlorite, even in challenging weather conditions and at low temperatures.
How It Works
ALGANET® combines chemical and mechanical cleaning action. Once dissolved in water, the solution is applied to the surface and worked in by scrubbing. This process promotes the breakdown of biological contamination and organic deposits. After the product has completely dried, rinse thoroughly to remove degraded residues and restore the surface to a clean condition.
Cost-Effective Performance
Thanks to its excellent coverage rate, ALGANET® treats large surface areas with a relatively small amount of product. 800 g of powder produces approximately 10 litres of cleaning solution, enough to cover an average of 50–70 m². As a result, treatment costs are reduced and fewer repeat applications are required.
Specific Applications
In addition to outdoor stone and masonry surfaces, ALGANET® can also be used on PVC awnings, tarpaulins and other outdoor plastic materials. It is compatible with previously treated surfaces and may be applied repeatedly when dealing with particularly stubborn lichens, without altering or damaging the substrate.
Long-Lasting Results
ALGANET® delivers deep and long-lasting cleaning performance because it acts directly on the biological contamination responsible for dark staining and surface deterioration. Consequently, it helps reduce the rapid reappearance of stains, extending the visual durability of the treated surface. For ongoing maintenance, use ECOMARBEC.
Technical Limitations
Do not use ALGANET® together with acidic products. While the solution is still wet, avoid direct contact with wood, metals, fabrics, soil and vegetation. When used correctly, ALGANET® provides a reliable and safe solution for maintaining outdoor surfaces.
Useful Resources for Cleaning Outdoor Floors and Surfaces
To achieve the best results and choose the most effective cleaning method for different types of contamination, it is useful to understand common outdoor cleaning challenges. When green deposits, dark staining, mould and lichens appear, simple washing is often not enough. Organic contamination tends to penetrate the surface and return quickly, especially in damp or shaded areas.

How to use
Product Preparation
Dissolve 800 g of ALGANET® in 10 litres of water inside a clean plastic bucket, stirring thoroughly for several minutes until the powder is completely dispersed.
The resulting cleaning solution must be used within 3–4 hours of preparation.
Deep Cleaning of Surfaces Affected by Biological Build-Up
- Apply the ALGANET® solution evenly across the surface using a brush, sponge, soft cloth or broom.
- Work the product into the surface using a stiff brush or a brown buffer pad to help remove algae, moss and organic contamination.
- Allow the product to remain on the surface until completely dry, with a recommended contact time of approximately 24 hours.
- Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water or a pressure washer.
- If contamination persists, repeat the treatment.
Deep Cleaning of Heavily Contaminated Surfaces and Lichen Growth
- Apply the ALGANET® solution evenly across the surface using a brush, sponge, soft cloth or broom.
- Work the product into the surface using a stiff brush or a brown abrasive pad to help remove algae, moss and organic contamination.
- Allow the product to remain on the surface until completely dry, with a recommended contact time of approximately 24 hours.
- On heavily soiled surfaces, carry out the rinsing process while scrubbing the surface with stiff brushes or abrasive pads to facilitate the removal of degraded organic residues.
- Complete the rinsing process using a solution of ECOMARBEC diluted to 20–30% in water and/or a pressure washer.
The cleaning process can be repeated across the entire surface or applied locally to the most contaminated areas or where biological build-up is particularly resistant.
During application, we recommend wearing protective gloves to avoid direct skin contact.
Coverage Rate
800 g of ALGANET® produces approximately 10 litres of cleaning solution.
Product consumption varies according to several factors, particularly the absorbency of the material, the level of contamination and the condition of the surface being treated. As substrate porosity and biological contamination increase, a larger quantity of solution may be required to achieve effective cleaning.
- Highly absorbent materials such as terracotta, concrete pavers or raw concrete, affected by widespread or deeply rooted biological contamination: average coverage 35–45 m² with 10 litres of solution.
- Moderately absorbent materials such as unpolished natural stone or cement-based agglomerates with visible organic contamination: approximate coverage 45–60 m².
- Low-absorbency or non-absorbent materials such as porcelain tiles or klinker, even when affected by biological staining: approximate coverage 60–70 m².
Coverage Disclaimer
The coverage rates provided are for guidance only, as they may vary significantly depending on material porosity, the level of biological contamination, surface texture, application method and the number of treatment cycles required. On heavily contaminated surfaces, it may be necessary to increase solution consumption and repeat the treatment, either across the entire area or on specific sections.

Is ALGANET® suitable for cleaning outdoor stone and masonry surfaces?
Yes. ALGANET® is specifically designed for the deep cleaning of outdoor stone and masonry surfaces, including porcelain tiles, ceramics, terracotta, marble, natural stone and cement-based agglomerates. Thanks to its sanitising action, it removes biological contamination and dark staining even from heavily soiled surfaces without altering their appearance.
When should ALGANET® be used?
ALGANET® is ideal when outdoor surfaces are affected by mould, algae, lichens and biological build-up caused by moisture and weather exposure. It is particularly effective for decontaminating outdoor surfaces and restoring cleanliness where persistent biological growth is present.
Is it necessary to scrub the surface after applying ALGANET®?
It depends on the level of contamination. For light biological growth, rinsing with a pressure washer or high-pressure water may be sufficient. However, when dealing with stubborn deposits, especially lichens, we recommend scrubbing the surface with stiff brushes, abrasive discs or brown abrasive pads. This allows the product to penetrate the material’s porosity and effectively remove even the microscopic root structures of lichens. Rinsing with an aqueous solution of ECOMARBEC helps eliminate all remaining residues.
How can biological growth be prevented from returning after cleaning?
To slow down the return of algae, mould and lichens, we recommend applying a water-repellent protective treatment after cleaning. This reduces water absorption and limits the conditions that favour biological growth.
For terracotta and concrete surfaces, we recommend IDROWIP® or TIM®, while for natural stone and masonry materials we recommend SILOX6 or ACTIV3.
After applying the water-repellent treatment, you can also use the anti-wear and anti-vegetation finish PAV05®. This treatment enhances the appearance of outdoor surfaces while making them easier to clean, sweep and maintain over time, improving resistance to dirt and helping prevent the reformation of biological contamination.
Can ALGANET® be reapplied periodically?
Yes. ALGANET® can be reapplied periodically, especially in damp environments or areas prone to recurring biological contamination. However, for routine maintenance, we recommend using ECOMARBEC for seasonal cleaning at the beginning and end of the year.
Regular use of ECOMARBEC helps keep surfaces clean and under control, reducing the need for more intensive ALGANET® treatments and making maintenance easier and less demanding.
Is ALGANET® harmful to plants and vegetation?
While in liquid form, ALGANET® may cause yellowing of vegetation if it comes into direct contact with grass or plants. For this reason, direct contact should be avoided during application. Once completely dry, the product is no longer harmful to vegetation and can be rinsed away onto soil or into drainage systems.
